As the horizontal stabilizer is in the priming process,
I started with the elevators. On the image you see the counter balance
ribs, located left- and rightmost on the elevators!
The skeleton is clecoed together with the lower skin.
A photo from a different angle of the left elevator. You
see the internal structure very well.
Rahel is helping me. Either with vinyl removing or even...
...with deburring.
After four hours the Trim-Rudders are ready for
priming.
Ok, here you see me riveting the elevatrors. Hese is where you need
that special bucking bar for the 'Ten'. I thought it would be tricky
to rivet here, but...
... here you can see an almost perfect result. And
if you judge the quality, you must admit that the photo has some
artistic value!
The trailing edge has been prosealed. Proseal is a nasty, sticky
stuff, primarily used to make the fuel tanks leak free. On the 'Ten'
some trailing edges receive it too.
The simlest way to deal with
it is to use disposable gloves and throw them away frequently. I
probably used a dozen here.
Another Milestone! Yvar Vonlanthen, my
Advisor, came on inspection. Horizontal Stabilizer and Elevators
were checked and deemed airworthy. He himself had just had his first
landings in his brand new RV-7 on that day.
Almost complete. The leading edge in front must just be bent and pop
riveted like the one in the background.
