Wings

In ground school
many years ago, my instructor asked me about the origin and definition of
the word 'wing'. I replied, "Ma'am, I think it's Chinese and means: The arm
of a bird." She mumbeled something about why many animals eat their young at
birth, then went to the dictionary to look up the definition. Wing was
defined as: "A movable, paired appendage for flying." She looked at me and
said, "Well, what does that sound like to you?" I said, "Well Ma'am, that
sounds like the arm of a bird to me." We agreed to disagree, even though I
was right.
